Sunny's second birthday

yf and Sunny are here to wish everyone a Happy Lunar New Year!
Gong Hei Fat Choi!

Alright!~ It has been 6 months since I last updated Sunny's blog. I guess it wasn't as bad as it seemed to be, at least I update this blog regularly on a 6 months basis. Ha ha.

1 August.
Here's Sunny asking me to play with him:

However, I rejected him and hence, he has got to play on his own:

After some time, Sunny got tired and he decided to take a rest:

9 September.
This is Sunny's favourite spot at home - my sister's bed:

And here's Sunny's 2nd favourite spot at home:

24 September.
YS's birthday! Look at Sunny! The cake must be really tasty:

But Sunny is not able to take human food, so he's feeling very emotional:

After Sunny's 1st Anniversary, I started my university life soon after in August. I kind of neglected Sunny to a certain extend as I get busier with my school work, with endless of essays and datelines to meet every now and then. But having said so, I still make it a point to bath Sunny every fortnightly. Haa! I totally lost track of time after school started. And I guess that's who I am, once I am involved in something, I will really go into it without realising whatever that is happening around. And in a blink of an eye, it's December!

You might be asking me at this point of time, why December?
That's because exams are over, and I have all my time in the world for Sunny again!

So, on the 4 December 2008, we actually brought Sunny along with us to SAF Changi Chalet. Even though it's a place with 'No Pets Allowed', we still managed to keep Sunny there for 4 days. Shhh~ It's actually the first time Sunny had a "out of home" holiday with us, and it's really difficult to keep Sunny there as he just won't stop moving around the whole place. And the worst thing is that he will just start to bark when there's someone passing by our front door (we will have to quiet him down before we get caught with a dog in the chalet!). But over the weekend, we realised that we were not the only ones who have brought our pet dog along, I saw at least 2 other dogs there due to the fact that the Chalet Office is not opened during the weekends. Typical Singaporeans, huh?

4 December.

Sunny's feeling rather tired, but yet he doesn't want to take a nap:

Hence, we decided to pose him up for photo taking instead:

6 December.
We brought Sunny to Changi beach and he was very was excited. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me, if not I will be sure to capture some shots...
Here's Sunny after jumping in to the sea water:

7 December.
Sunny and his new friend, guess the little girl didn't want me to take any picture of her:

Sunny and YQ, looking SMART:

How about having some sparkling drink? Cheers!

And we even had fireworks too:

During the last week of December, we left for Malaysia (KL and Cameron Highlands) on a short holiday for a period of 4 days. Sunny was sent to a boarding home at Teban Garden on Christmas Eve, and this was the second time which Sunny went to a boarding home. The first time where Sunny went to a boarding home (located at Lim Chu Kang) was in June 2008 when my family and I were away for a 4 days trip to KL and Genting. I guess Sunny must have been having fun and making new friends when he was at the boarding home. :) At the same time, since Sunny was sent to the boarding home at Teban, we decided to let him have his grooming session there as well. But but but... When I collected Sunny home on the 29 December 2008, I realised that his fur below his eyes were snipped off! Gosh!! We spent almost 6 months trying to keep the fur around the area long and now...? Back to square, I am not going to send Sunny over to Teban Garden to have his grooming session there anymore! Argh!!

28 December.
Family photo taken against the Cameron tea plantation:

On the 31st December 2008, together with my mum and my sister, I brought Sunny to Boon Lay Place for the New Year countdown. I thought that everything is going to be alright, until the clock strikes 12. Once the fireworks display started, Sunny was in total shocked! Then he kept struggling, trying to get out of his bag, and there I was trying to free him, and yet I can't do it as he was stucked (I secured his harness to the zip in the bag). As a result, I am not able to enjoy the fireworks display... Pathetic!

30 December.
Here's Sunny posing for a photo to be taken:

Be sure that there's no rice on Sunny's fur, that's his teeth...
And Sunny doesn't really like the wind:

Sunny in his bag, feeling sleepy and tired, but waiting very patiently to be brought out to Boon Lay Place for the countdown celebration:

Time flies... And well, here it goes all over again. A new semester kicked off in January, and I am starting to get busy with all my readings and stuff...

26 January 2009.
Even though we didn't really get to celebrate the Lunar New Year for this year (which explains why Sunny wasn't in his CNY outfit), nevertheless, since Sunny's birthday happens to fall on the first day of the Lunar New Year for the year of the Ox (26 January), we celebrated Sunny's 2nd birthday instead.
Happy Birthday, Sunny!

Well, some of you might think that I am crazy, asking me what for to actually celebrate a dog's birthday? And whether or not the dog will even know if it's its birthday. But let me clarify this with you, Sunny has been a part of my family since 28 July 2007, thus, it doesn't really matter if I were to get some scrumptious delicacies for my dog on his birthday, ain't I right? To tell the truth, this is the only day where I will really go ahead to spend that extra bit of money in getting some nice dog food for my dog.

So, yeah, a doggie birthday celebration held in place of the usual Lunar New Year celebration at my auntie's place. Special Guest-of-Honor for this celebration were none other than Ah-Win and Milo. My nieces and nephews were there to sing the birthday song to Sunny, and my sister was there holding on to Sunny and helping him blow off the candle and help to cut the cake on Sunny's behalf. Here's the link to the super short clip (12 seconds) of Sunny's 2nd Birthday Celebration (p.s. apologies for the poor resolution of the video).

Mm, Sunny even got a packet of 'Bow-Wow' treats from my other auntie (Ah-Win's owner), and I guess that's the only present which he had received this year, apart from the cake which my mum and I shared in buying it.
(Erm, YS and YQ, you guys didn't get anything for Sunny, right? How about contributing some cash to 'The Sunny Fund' instead? Ha ha.)

I must admit that Sunny might not know what's happening around, but he must have really enjoyed the birthday cake which we got for him. The pandan smell from the cake was really nice, but I just don't understand why the cake tasted so sweet. Or was it just me again? The person who couldn't stand eating sweet stuff? Haa!

Apart from Sunny and Milo (Ah-Win didn't eat the cake, perhaps my uncle and auntie just do not want to dirty his white fur or something), my nieces and nephews and even my cousins had a great laugh and I am sure they enjoyed the moment too. After all, it's also the very first time for them to actually witness and celebrate a dog's birthday! Interesting... Very interesting...! ;p

I am sure that Sunny is really photogenic:

And he sure likes to pose in front of my camera:

Here's YQ helping Sunny to cut his cake:
(I must admit that this photo looks weird...especially the look on Sunny's face!)

Sunny sure is enjoying his pandan cake:

This is Milo the Shih Tzu:

Then there's yf with Sunny the Yorkshire Terrier:

Hmm, let me introduce you to Sunny's NEW friends as well...
And FYI, there are currently 8 fishes in the tank... So... 'Huat' ah!

And this? Sunny's piece of work! Haa!
